Work in progress: plant exhibition.
19/05/2013
Next friday the Pots & Paper exhibition will start. This exhibition involves everything about plants. There is a big plant-swap (don’t forget to bring a plant, so you can swap him for a new one), a lot of plant accessories like plant-hangers, pots, plant sticks,…. . And there is a little paper-shop where you can find plant-postcards, little seeds, … . It will be a wonderful weekend all about green and plants.
At the moment I’m very busy preparing everything for the exhibition. I’m making clay plant-hangers, which you can see in the pictures. I also show some new textile pieces inspired on greenery, like wall-hangings and cushions. I have fun, that’s the most important thing I guess.
Have a nice week !
The last picture is a planthanger from at a friend, and a dreamcatcher I gave her.

Plant hangers.

For a plant-exhibition that I join, I’m creating planthangers. They exist out of selfmade clay pots and a macramé piece. This is my very first try. The next 2 weeks you’ll see more about my creating proces.
The 2 other pictures are in the Royal gardens in Belgium. Once a year they are open for the public. They are so big and beautiful. And they remind me a bit of the greenhouse in Paris.

The pieces that I’m making for the fashion clash project are almost ready. They need some little changes and an extra accessoire, and then it’s ready to be send tomorrow.
I give you here a little preview of how my outfit is going to look like. I never seen it on a model, so I can’t wait to see the result of the photoshoot and catwalk.
In a month I can reveal the real final result to you all !
Want to see the outfit in real ? Be welcome at the fashion-clash-week in Maastricht.

In Paris I discovered the wonderful work of Charles Fréger.
Now there is not only an exhibition of his ‘Wildermann’ work in Vitry sur Seine (not so far from Paris) but also in the photomuseum in Antwerp. This is defenitely an exhibition to visit !
Etnic costumes has always been an important inspiration when I design textiles. And so the pictures of Charles Fréger are like a present to me.
At the moment I’m busy with creating an outfit for a fashion project, called Fashion Clash. It maybe can sound strange, but I never have made clothes in my life. But that’s just what they want for the project, ‘the clash project’. They ask non-fashion-designers to create an outfit. It has to be experimental, and with the use of our own materials and craft. I descided to make an outfit that is like a contemporary etnic costume. With a bunch of colors and volume, and will only use fabrics that I made myself. Already a week long I’m working on 1 little piece of the outfit. It’s a lot of work, but I think it will be beautiful. Next week it supposed to be finish, this is going to be stressy !
This work makes me want to design new carpets. That will be my next project.
