Misfit.

Finally this lovely book about Hella Jongerius is mine. She’s my favorite designer ever, her work is so pure and honest. I feel that the book is in my house, it brings me in a strange atmosphere, and the working goes so well. It’s like it open’s a new world for us, it show you that everything can be more than normal.
The book is designed bij Irma Boom, a famous dutch designer. She also made my other favorite book about Sheila Hicks. Here is a little movie about Irma boom, have a good look at the little beautiful prototypes, they are lovely. And here is a movie about the making of ‘misfit’, a book always become more and better by looking at those little movies. They make me proud of being their owner.
Thank you, Inge, for posting about that lovely book.
Wish you all a wonderful weekend, with a lot of sun, new sprouts, and little creative moments.

As a beautiful start of the weekend I want to show you this beautiful book, from Donna Hay. She always use the perfect pictures in her books, a little dream.
I’m thinking about buying myself a knitting machine, I actually love that technique a lot. And would love to make some things for myself at home. When I see her atelier, I’m dreaming even more.
Oh, and does I already showed you these lovely hairpins ?

Rain, sad sad weather. Hope it will be better tomorrow. I wanted to make a large walk in the city today, but the rain pushed me back home.
Found these things in the thriftstore today. A lovely teapot, with his blue little flower on top, and the lovely wooden handle. And 2 nice pots to grow little baby-plants in it. So they can get new roots.
There is a pile of cookingbooks waiting for me. Tomorrow I want to bake some things, but first I have to choose what I want to make. Enjoy your evening !
A present for a friend.

I made a book for a friend, to thank her for being my model a year ago. I did the bookbinding by myself, and love to chose the paper, and the cover by myself. It isn’t perfect, I made a few mistakes. But I still like the result, and I guess Elise was happy with this little surprise.
I think I will do some more bookbinding, practice, and maybe make a little “collection” for myself. We’ll see.
Have a nice sunday !

High in the city.

These days were very busy, I had two important talks with very inspiring peoples. Very stressy, but so interesting. Happy I went for a talk with them.
I also want to show you a little part of my books, these ones are about gardening. There are a few books that I bought in the bookstore, but there are also a lot I found in the thrift store. They always are very cheap, retro and full with interesting information about all the plants. I can use that information, because at the moment I’m writing an article about inside gardening for our school magazine. Next week I have to finish it, I hope I can make people curious about inside gardening. It’s so lovely to do. I hope the article will be like in my head.

I’m so inspired by the work of Sheila Hicks, I love the fact that she is doing so much more than weaving. And makes such a beautiful pieces. I found the book a year ago in the library, but forgot him for a little while. But because of Renilde’s post about Sheila, I went back to the library and search this book again. I still love it a lot !
With a head full of inspiration I will lock myself up in our weavingroom, and weave all day long. Enjoy your day !
How they work.

A little while ago I found this beautiful book in the library, it’s about famous designers and how they work. I love to see how people work, their ateliers, their little stuff. I believe that it tell so much about who they are. I would love yo show you all of the pages of this beautiful book, it’s difficult to choose wich one I want to show.
I dream of my own atelier, later, soon. A large with room, with a lot of windows. With weavinglooms, embroiderymachines, plants, and a wall with inspirations. Objects, books, pictures, … . So maybe one day, my workspace will be published in a beautiful book like this. We keep on dreaming.
