Blue.

Thank you for all of you who is interested about buying a little book. Now we are ready to print, I’ll keep you posted about when they will be ready.

These days I’m very busy with crocheting and weaving to make some new products. They are for a special event ! Soon I’ll show you some pictures of them.

I’m very excited to be back at work, and create new things. I just started a new theme, and it will be about the Native Americans. Because I like the patterns they use, and I also love the feather-head-pieces they wear. So I hope that at the end of the year there will be a completely new collection of textiles. AND I just decided that I want to try to start my own independent business when I’m back from Paris, so I can sell all my textile designs. That’s a big step !

Enjoy the hot weather today !

Today I went to a carpet-atelier from Vera Vermeersch. Already for 4 years long I was hoping that I could have a look inside Veras atelier. Today I finally went for a visit.

Vera showed me how she work, and it’s like magic. First she make a drawing on a strong piece of fabric, then she mix yarns to find the right colours, … . Mostly she makes little samples first, to make sure that the colours are good, and the pile is high enough. And after all these preparations, she can start tufting. It’s a big ‘pistol’, with high presure air, and it’s like she make a drawing with yarns. I love the play between the front and the back of the carpet, the pile, the way of working.

I was so totally happy when I came inside the work-room, and it made me think “oh, this is what I want to do !”. I had the same kind of feeling when, 6 years ago, I came into the weaving atelier for the first time. So I hope that I have the chance to learn how to tuft, and maybe it will be a part of my future. I hope so.

This make me so happy. Can’t stop smiling.

Let’s make carpets.

Two years ago I saw a beautiful exhibition about her work, at ‘De zwarte Panter in Antwerp.

I’m so so happy, because my new camera finally arrived, after 2 months of waiting. But we still need a little while to get to know eachother. I’m so happy about my new one, but at the same time a bit melancholic about my old camera. He isn’t longer travelling with me in my handbag, but lays down at home. Hope he doesn’t mind.

Today I went to ‘Valerie Traan’, it’s a beautiful galery, so if you once are in Antwerp you should visit that place. When I was walking home I found this poor pigeon, he couldn’t fly anymore. So I took him home with me, and will try to make him better. I have to take care that my cats will not take him, because they are real hunters.

Oh, I still have to tell you all that I have a new idea about the shop I’ll start soon. It will be a pop-up-web-store, temporary, one who will exist for a little while. Because I think this kind of shop fits better to my ideas about the future, and my busy year. What do you think ?

Enjoy your weekend.

A little while ago I made this surprise box for Marieke. It’s so sad that it’s so expensive to send a surprise-box by mail, because I would love to send more people a surprise like this, but it’s financially impossible. But I promise that when I maybe once win the lotery, then I will send all of you a package like the one I send to Marieke. Promise !

Sunday I bought the garden-picture from a photographer. She made photographs of city-gardens, and she was selling them on a market. I’m so happy that I bought a piece of it.

The diary.

Finally I show you this book, just because of Conny and our conversation about Frida. I promised her to send her some pictures of this book, but why not share it with all of you ?

Poor little bird.

While I was cleaning my room I found these drawning / paintings I made a year ago. I painted birds. I forgot them completely so it was nice to find them, and I’m still surprised that I painted them.

Pictures of the exhibition I saw yesterday. It was really impressive. More info about the exhibition up here. The little movie is my favourite artwork, it’s the same as picture 3. Check 1 minute 30 seconds, I like that part.

……..Goodbye big one.

Still in love with the work of Sophie calle. A little while ago I saw the exhibition ‘Prenez soin de vous’ (or ‘Take care of yourself’) in Tilburg. And it was so beautiful and inspiring, now I found the book in the library. The book is a collection of all the pictures, text, and videos that are made in case of the project. This is my favourite video, it’s Feist. Do you know her ? She’s a great singer. (Sorry for the bad quality of the video)

(Here and here you can have a look at some older posts about the exhibition.)
